Kous Kous Cafe, located at 665 Washington Road in Mt.Lebanon next to the parking garage and two doors down from Aldo's coffee, is a small family owned restaurant serving mostly Moroccan cuisine with a modern yet authentic take. We are a BYOB ($5 corkage fee per bottle) restaurant and we do accept credit cards except American Express.
We insist on using the freshest ingredients and some of the best and healthiest products. Our menu features local produce and other products from Penns Corner Farmers Alliance, grass fed beef and free range chicken from Eastbrook Homestead Amish Farm. We only use imported Moroccan spices to add authentic flavors to the food. Moroccan food generally is flovor spicy rather than spicy hot. The majority of meals on the menu are cooked from scratch with a lots of attention to detail and focus on quality.
The chef owner, Abdel Khila hails from Morocco and has a wide range of experiences in the restaurant and tourism industry having worked in establishments such as Walt Disney World company, Baum Vivant, Cafe Zinho and La forĂȘt. He is assisted by his mother Mrs.Habiba, an excellent chef who has raised eight children and has cooked thousands of authentic Moroccan meals as a homemaker in her country of origin of Morocco. Mrs.Habiba influence on the food is undeniable as most of the menu items originate from her own recipes and recipes transmitted to her by her own mother and previous generations. She is responsible for making among other things the delicious Moroccan flat bread served with dinners, the bastilla rated by the post-gazette's China Millman as one of the Best dining top dishes of 2010, Moroccan cookies, all the marinades and the meat rubs, the sauces, etc and overseeing the preparation of almost every dish on the menu.
